Time's Up!

Y'all, my favorite season is here!! 🍁🍂

I could go on and on about why I love Fall so much, but I'll spare you and just share two things I'm learning:

1.) The importance of seasons

2.) The importance of moving on when a season has ended

Truth be told, the latter is a lesson I should have learned years ago. But if I can be honest, it's difficult for someone like me - who thrives on comfortability and despises the unknown - to really move on to their next when they have become so accustomed to their now. But God is showing me more and more the importance of doing so. The beauty of seasons is that in order for a new one to begin, the old one must first end. And just like the trees show us every year how lovely it is to let the dead things go, we must also do the same at the end of each season. Letting go of the things that no longer serve us so that we can pick up that which does.

I'm currently going through a season in my life where I feel God tugging and pulling me out of one season and into the next. Things I used to find comfort and happiness in no longer fulfill me. Things that used to bring me peace now cause stress and discomfort. Things I used to look forward to I now attempt to avoid. And with each passing day I understand more and more why that is.

God will make you uncomfortable when He knows you're meant for more.

Sounds crazy, right? Like God...if you know I'm meant for more, then why can't you just take me to the 'more' without all the discomfort and stress? Can I tell you why? Come in closer...it's because He knows some of us (reluctantly raises hand) won't move unless He makes us so uncomfortable that change looks and feels better than staying the same. Yes, we can and will still probably experience discomfort to some degree throughout our life; but the amount of discomfort you're feeling now, the way you've been feeling attacked now, the chaos and confusion you're experiencing now, could very well be God letting you know that it's time for you to exit out of the season you're currently in so that you can enter the next.

You can either resist God's nudging and promptings, or you can move forward as He leads and reap all that He has for you on the other side of your obedience. The time is always right for you to do what you should have done weeks, months or even years ago.

So pack your bags (literally + figuratively) because your time is up! You've been stuck in that place for long enough. If we're being honest, probably too long. Your waiting season is over. Your stagnant season is over. Your uncomfortable season is over. Your struggle season is over. Your frustrated season is over. Your stressed out season is over. God has so much more in store for you. All you have to do is step out on faith to receive it.

It's time for you to go. It's time for you to grow. It's time for you to glow.

And you know the best part of stepping out on faith? Knowing that God is already waiting on you in your next. Waiting so that He can continue leading and guiding you. Waiting so that He can continue coming through for you. I mean, check His track record...has He ever not came through for you? Has He ever led you somewhere just to leave you there alone? Has He ever removed something from your life and failed to replace it with something better? Has He ever promised you one thing and delivered another? No...? Then ask yourself, why would He start now?

He won't.

Trust that if God is moving you out of one season and into another, that He has something better than you could ever imagine waiting for you in that season. Trust that if He brought you out before He will bring you out again. Trust that His timing is perfect. Trust that the ending of one season can be the beginning of a beautiful new one. Trust that all the discomfort you've been feeling is not in vain. Trust that your current season has served it's purpose. Trust that there's an even greater purpose waiting on you in your next season.

I'm preaching to myself as well when I say this, so I get it. It's hard to move on sometimes when you've made a home out of familiarity and laid down roots in your comfort zone. But no amount of familiarity is worth your peace or the stagnation that comes from remaining in a season you've outgrown. I know it gets hard, but trust me when I say the pain and discomfort you're feeling now can't compare to the joy that's coming. Your time in your current season may be up, but I believe you're still just getting started. Your new season awaits...step into it boldly.
