With each passing year society becomes more and more hungry for "success". We feel the need to have the nicest car, that big house, designer clothes and shoes, degree after degree, the newest phone...literally everything has become our quest. We spend all our time, money and energy as we seek after these things to fulfill us. Yet even after we attain one or some of them, we are still never  really satisfied.

As some of you may know, I recently released my very own poetry book titled Beauty from Ashes (you can get it at beautyfromashesbook.blogspot.com :) ). If I wasn't excited before, the amount of love and support I have received since then has been amazing. But before I start getting emotional (yes, even "G's" get emotional sometimes too lol) allow me to take you on a brief journey along the road that led up to this point.

It's May. The start of summer. I'm freshly out of college. Now off to the "real world"  in search of my ideal job as an elementary school teacher. My only job at the moment: get a job! Not only that, but I'm hundreds of miles away from my friends, my community -- my extended family; praying that God would send me some like-minded individuals to befriend and grow with. After bouts of loneliness, filling out application after application, turning in resumes, making phone calls, NOTHING was happening. Not only was I not seeing any fruits of my labor, but I had to deal with EVERYONE inquiring about my "next move". Finding joy in the midst of seemed almost impossible. But I digress. Now, fast forward to the end of July.
